I am excited to share my latest creation: a fully custom, 3D-printed organizer for the absolute classic board game, El Grande .

This insert was designed entirely by me from scratch to completely eliminate setup fatigue, protect components, and improve the overall gameplay experience.

🚀 Key Features

1. Perfect Box Fit & Sleeved Card Support: Precision-engineered to fit seamlessly inside the original game box with absolutely zero lid-lift. Furthermore, the card compartments are specifically designed with extra clearance to comfortably accommodate premium sleeved cards.

2. Instant "Box-to-Board" Setup: Tired of wasting 15 minutes bagging and unbagging components? This organizer is designed to go straight from the box to the gaming table. Each player gets their own dedicated tray containing their Caballeros, Grande, and scoring markers. It keeps every player's area organized and speeds up setup and cleanup to just a few moments.

3. Secure Sliding Lids & Vertical Storage: Every single box in this organizer is equipped with a smooth, secure sliding lid. This mechanism locks your components into place, meaning you can confidently store the game vertically on your shelf (Kallax-friendly) without worrying about meeples or cards spilling inside the box.

4. Customizable Lid Modifiers (Save Filament & See Inside): The sliding lids are designed to be highly customizable using your slicer's modifier settings. By removing the top and bottom solid layers of the lid's center area in your slicer, you can:

Drastically reduce print time and filament usage.

See the components inside at a single glance without opening the lid.

Personalize the look! Choose Honeycomb, Gyroid, or any infill pattern you prefer during the slicing process to match your personal style.

🛠 Print Settings & Tips

Material: PLA or PETG (PLA recommended for crisp details).

Layer Height: 0.2mm to 0.4mm works flawlessly.

Infill: 10-15% is more than enough for the main trays.

How to get the mesh lid effect: In your slicer (PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, etc.), add a modifier zone over the center of the lids. Set Top Layers to 0 , Bottom Layers to 0 , and select your favorite infill pattern (Honeycomb or Gyroid at 15-20% looks incredible and saves a lot of material!).

👥 Community & License

This project is 100% free for everyone for non-commercial use. I love giving back to the amazing board game and 3D printing community.

I highly encourage you to post your makes, share your feedback, and if you see room for improvement, remixes are warmly welcomed! Let's make this design even better together.

Happy printing and enjoy your next game of El Grande!
