Star Realms deck box with life counters

A box to hold the card game Star Realms securely, together with a set of life counters. The box is sturdy, and latches closed.

The box will hold the game Star Realms, WITHOUT the life cards from the original game, but with the instruction manual of the game. The life counters are these: https://www.printables.com/model/687765-mechanical-mtg-life-counter. A deck box will need 2 of these life counters.

The box is designed specifically for this game, with these elements. You can try and use it for other games, and with other elements, but no guarantees.

This box is strongly inspired by the Rugged Box (Parametric) ( https://www.printables.com/model/258431-rugged-box-parametric ), but is not directly based on it. I have my own design file for the same box I made for a different project. This box is not directly compatible with the box linked above.

To assemble, you will need to print all parts, the top, the bottom, the holder, 2 clamps (in the STL files there are 2 the file) and the inlay. The top comes in 2 versions. One where you can print the inlay separately and glue it in place, or one where the inlay is included in the file for the top for multi-material prints. The STL files are oriented, the STEP files are not. There is also a STEP file included with the entire box assembled.

To assembly you will also need 6x M3x20mm screws (I used socket head cap screws). These screws simply tap into the plastic. Do be careful not to split the holes. Slowly thread in the screw, and turn the screws in and out every few turns it to build up some heat for the screw to cut better.

To secure the inlay and the card holder, you can use any glue suitable for plastic.

Put the top and the bottom together and screw the 2 M3 screws from the outside to secure the hinge. The top is the part with the logo. Turn the box around and screw 2 more M3 screws at the bottom set of holes, all the way through. Then secure the 2 clamps with the remaining screws. See if the box opens and closes well, then glue in the inlay if you have not printed it in the top.

Place the card holder in the box and see if the box opens and closes. The holder has an orientation, with the life counters to the right (as seen in the pictures). The other way around will jam the lid. When the box is opened there is a boss in the top lid. This needs to align with the cards. Once everything fits, you can also glue the card holder. You now have a finished box for your game.
