Covers Hive Colony (fan expansion for Hive)

Over a decade ago, Hive was one of the first 3D prints I made for myself, and I've enjoyed playing it ever since. I love carrying it around, but the original set I printed was quite large. So, I decided to make a much smaller version. I searched for suitable models but had no luck. Most designs use carved icons, which don’t scale down well and end up looking unappealing. I wanted the pieces to look good, so I needed an extruded design. While I found a few extruded models here and there, each had features I didn’t like—they either didn’t look good or weren’t small enough. Maybe I missed a perfect one, but honestly, designing it myself seemed easier than continuing the search.

Base and expansion pieces originally designed by Gigbrinus ( https://www.thingiverse.com/gigbrinus/designs ) from Thingiverse ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1745592 ), redesigned as SVG by Vulpen ( https://boardgamegeek.com/user/Vulpen ) from BGG ( https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/264547/hive-swarm-pnp-vector-pieces-original-hive-plus-fa ).

Fan pieces are original design of Vulpen ( https://boardgamegeek.com/user/Vulpen ) from BGG ( https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/264547/hive-swarm-pnp-vector-pieces-original-hive-plus-fa ) based on Stephen Taylor's ( https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgamedesigner/41823/stephen-taylor ) fan expansion named Colony ( https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgameexpansion/186175/hive-colony-fan-expansion-for-hive ).

Both Gigbrinus and Vulpen shared their designs under CC BY. I've converted SVG's from Vulpen to DXF, imported to Fusion with 0.25 scale factor.

Each piece measures approximately 24.6mm from corner to corner and about 22mm from side to side. The base is 5mm thick, with a 1mm raised design, making the total depth 6mm. Corners touching printbed chamfered 1mm. I've included step file for anyone who want to modify it.

For reference, 1 complete (for 1 player) base+expansion set is about 21g and takes 1 hour to print. 3 top, bottom and wall layers, %15 gyroid infill, 150mm speed.

There is a tuckbox pdf at the files section for storing/carrying 2 complete (for 2 players) base+expansion set. I've printed it to 250 gsm A4 paper with %100 scaling

Added b&w print photos I've made. Color ones are coming soon.
