• Personality: Intellectual, resolute, and dangerously curious. She believes the only way to defeat the darkness is to read the words it fears.

• Role: Guardian

• Background: An agent with the Bureau, Roland is a "by the book" federal investigator who stumbled into a world that defies all logic. Assigned to investigate the strange anomalies in Arkham, he tries to apply standard law enforcement procedure to cosmic horrors.

• Personality: Professional, pragmatic, and fiercely protective. He balances the need to find clues with the necessity of putting down threats with his trusty .38 Special.

• Role: Rogue

• Visuals: Represented by the figure in the trench coat and fedora, pulling his collar up.

• Background: A former criminal who spent a long stint in prison, "Skids" learned the hard way that there are things in the dark far worse than the police. Now out on parole, he uses his street smarts and agility to fight the Mythos, hoping to buy his redemption—or at least survive another night.

• Personality: Scrappy, evasive, and desperate. He isn't a hero by choice, but he’s the guy you want watching your back when a shoggoth blocks the exit.
