Descent: Legends of the Dark – electronic die (Arduino)

This is a simple project to replace three types of dice with an electronic one. There are three buttons: black (6 sided die), red (8 sided), blue (12 sided). When you press a button, it will randomly display the result as if you would roll that die. This was checked carefully to make sure it is correct. The image will be displayed until you press one of the buttons again.

Components:

• 1x Arduino Nano

• 1x I2C 0.96-inch OLED Display SSD1306 128x64 (single colour)

• 1x 9V battery

• 1x 9V battery clip

• 1x on/off switch (SPDT Panel Mount Micro Slide Switch 19 x 15 x 6mm)

• 3x push buttons (SPST Momentary Mini Push Button Switch 27 x 10mm)
– black, red, blue

• 3x 10k Ohm resistors

• cables

• optionally – small piece of circuit board – this is only to help with cable management

Tools:

• soldering iron

• 3D printer

• hot glue gun (optionally)

The cost of this project is about £10/$10 - unfortunately many components can only be purchased in bulk (e.g. resistors). Still - the total should be fairly low.
