Description

Box insert for Anno 1800: The Boardgame (KOSMOS, English edition) + Anno 1800: Die Erweiterung (KOSMOS). The Constructions holder draws inspiration from other designs ( like this one ), but is designed from the ground up to match the game's visuals and accommodate the expansion tiles. The insert was made to speed up set-up as much as possible, with almost all components on trays ready to go from the box to the table.

Updates

• 3D resources/tokens now available!

• Version 1.1
• Model “UnrestTokens” have been updated to fix an error I notice a few weeks after printing. In the previous version the icon on the inside was inverted relative to the outside of the tray.

• Included parts “UnrestTokens(fix)_1” and “UnrestTokens(fix)_2”. Instead of reprint the whole corrected part, you may print those and glue it over the wrong symbols.

• Updated print profile to include the corrected parts and fix parts. I also altered some of the colors and included a new color used on the gear icon (it was previously the same as the exploration icon).

Notes
Compatibility

• Base Game English edition (2021)*

• Anno 1800: Die Erweiterung (expansion)

• Sleeved Cards (tested with Gamegenic Standard American prime sleeves)

• Vertical storage

• This 3D token upgrades

* My copy of the base game has two different cardboard thicknesses, all of which are thinner than the cardboard thickness in the expansion. The Construction box should be universally compatible, as it was based on the thickness of the expansion, but please measure the following components before printing:

• Game Board (each half ~1.75, for stacked height of 3.5mm)

• Home Islands (each ~1.375, for stacked height of 5.5mm)

• Old World Islands (each ~1.375, for stacked height of 16.5mm) and New World Islands (each ~1.75, for stacked height of 14mm)

• All of the expansion cardboard (~1.875, for the stacked island extensions should be ~7.5mm)

Slicing and Printing

• This is a heavy insert. I lost exact track between the many revisions, but it comes close to 1kg. I tried my best to reduce weight within the included profile settings, but a few things failed when I lowered the infill any further. There is likely room for optimization with additional per-object settings.

• For all of the card trays and card tray covers, I recommend using variable layer height. The little locking knobs have pretty tight tolerances.

• I used 6x2mm round magnets from Amazon for the magnetic locking mechanisms in the construction trays. The tray can work without magnets, but it will likely not do well vertically.

• For smaller printers (or single AMS), I have already split some of the longer models that have uneven compartments, but the others should be fine by just cutting in the middle.

• If you have the patient, 0.2 nozzles might yield better results in the multi-color prints. I noticed some finer details were missing in the flat face of the resource tray.

Usage

• The diagram image does not match the pictures, but the design is the same; it's just rotated 180°. It works either way, but I felt more comfortable having a solid wall bear the weight (which is a lot) for vertical storage.

• The expansion Construction tiles have their own little tray. You can either leave the set you use the most in the main tray and swap out tiles when needed, or set the expansion tray on top of the other tiles (moving the cannons up).

• Similarly, you may consolidate the red Worker cubes from the expansion in the main population cube tray.

Materials

• Panchroma Matte PLA (Wood Brown, Pastel Ice, Lavender Purple, Forest Green, Watermelon, Sapphire Blue)

• Panchroma Metallic PLA (Gold, Bronze, Silver)

• Panchoma Starlight PLA (Mars)

• 6x2mm Magnets

• Bills of Material suggestions based on color approximation

I made this insert after finally getting the expansion. It works with sleeved cards. It was designed for the English edition of the base game, but it seems like it can accommodate the German version with some modifications. https://makerworld.com/en/models/1845268-anno-1800-the-board-game-organizer
