Dog Park + New Tricks Board Game - Single Box

I wanted to build an organizer into the original box for the “Dog Park” board game that would also hold all the pieces from the “New Tricks” expansion, removing the need for the extra expansion box & consolidating all the parts and pieces into a single box! This saves storage space and makes it easier to bring the game out to play!

I based my design on Gridfinity, so the first step of this build is to print 4x Gridfinity plates (in black filament, below) with a custom spacer around the outside to get a perfect fit in the “Dog Park” game box:

The first “layer” of pieces includes:

A double-wide card holder to house all the original “Dog Park” dog cards + all the “New Tricks” dog cards. Because there are far fewer “New Tricks” dogs, I store them upside-down at the bottom of one of the card holders to try to make it easier to separate in case we're playing just the base game.

Gridfinity Size: 3x2

A holder for all the other “full-size” cards. From top to bottom, this holds:

• “Player Aid" (instruction) cards

• Location Bonus cards (base game + “New Tricks”)

• Objective + Solo Objective cards (base game + “New Tricks”)

• Trick Cards (from “New Tricks”)

Gridfinity Size: 2x2

A bin for all 70 “Walked” tokens (50 from the base game + 20 from “New Tricks”).

Gridfinity Size: 1x2

A holder for all 5 “Offer Dials” (including the additional one for “New Tricks”).

Two four-quadrant bins for holding the Ball, Stick, Treat, and Toy tokens from both the base game & “New Tricks.” I decided to keep these as two separate bins (like the base game originally came with) to make them easier to distribute/share during gameplay.

You will want to make sure the tokens are fairly evenly distributed between the two bins, as there is another piece (for holding small cards) that will need to rest on top of these bins in the next layer).

A holder for all 5 Reputation Markers ("dogs").

A holder for all 5 “Trainers” (from “New Tricks”).

A holder for all 5 “Walkers.”

A holder for:

• 2x 5th Player Location Tiles (from “New Tricks”)

• 4x Super Location Tiles (from “New Tricks”)

• The square tokens for the locations:
• 2 Reputation Tokens

• 1 Scout Token

• 1 Swap Token

• 1 Block Token

• 1x Round Tracker (the blue bird)

• 1x Auto Walker Die

• 1st Walker Token (red dog house)

After putting all of that together, your first layer should look like this:

There are 2 additional printable components that go on top of the first layer:

A bin for the 30 “Trained Tokens” from “New Tricks." This bin sits directly on top of the “Walked Tokens" bin in the first layer. The bottom of this bin should slot nicely into the top rim of the “Walked Tokens” bin, so make sure the “Walked Tokens” are fairly flat (and not all bunched up on one side of the bin).

Gridfinity Size: 1x2 (but no actual Gridfinity base, as it connects into the Walked tokens tray).

A bin to hold the “small cards”:

• 11x Forecast Cards (from the base game)

• 4x Forecast Cards (from “New Tricks”)
• I made separate slots for the forecast cards to again try to make it easier to play just the base game

• 7x Breed Expert Cards

This sits directly on top of the 2x 4-quadrant containers that hold the Ball, Stick, Treat, and Toy Tokens.

That's it for the 3D printed parts! With the second layer in place, your box should look like this:

From there, I lay the “Scorepad” on top of the “small cards” holder (it's roughly the same size and helps make sure none of those cards spill out during transport:

I then put the Trick Board (from “New Tricks”) along the side with the Dog Cards, other Full Size Cards, and Walked/Treat Token bins. I put all 5 Lead Boards on the opposite side (over the Reputation Markers, Walkers, and Trainers):

That should create a mostly level surface to place the main “Park Board” across the top:

There should be just enough room left to place the rulebooks (for both the base game & “New Tricks”), as well as the larger cardboard flat pieces (the 5th Player Field Tile & 5th Player Leaving Bonus Tile, both from “New Tricks”).

You can then close up the box and enjoy having your full Dog Park game in one box!
