A series of tiles for the board game, Terraforming Mars. These can be combined with the Dome City tiles (www.thingiverse.com/thing:2931652) & Forest tiles (www.thingiverse.com/thing:2931688) for a full experience.

I printed a Dome City in blue for the Capitol (points next to water, but otherwise just a city), but didn't include the file - it's just from the Dome City tiles. Likewise, I didn't do anything special for any city that is the same as any other city once placed. These tiles are slightly smaller across than the forest/city tiles...scaled them smaller to fit the hex locations better.

I also included a storage device for these extra tiles, similar to my other storage ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3048139 ). As with that project, I used (8) magnets from Amazon , 6mm diameter x 1mm deep. If you want the specific ones: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076QC9BFB

There was enough room in the forest-tile-storage to hold 9 water tiles, please don't try to stuff them into this storage...unless you're going to lengthen this holder.

The only piece that needs support, is the Commercial District. It has printed without supports, but tricky because of the arch.

The tile storage printed fine for me without support.

How I Designed This

Blender, Blender, Blender.

Blender is pretty fun. I would recommend some plugins to make your life easier (3D Print Toolbox, Measureit) as well as knowing the glory that is Pivot Point>Active Element, selecting multiple vertices, then (s)cale x/y/z to the last vertex to line things up.

I didn't really like the boringness of the Nature Preserve or the Restricted Area, but wanted to keep as much of the iconography as possible. If folks want to comment how they can be done better, I am listening.

Mohole actually turns out to have an interesting history on Earth. The art on the card was not helpful - it shows a hole in dry ground....vs. the gameplay where you put it in a spot reserved for water. My original version tried to hold true to the one experiment on Earth, but it lacked the icon/art tie-in that would make it better. I wanted to have a gassy-vent effect, but felt that it could be confused with Nuclear Zone.

Mining Area and Mining Rights have the same game effect and icon, so I didn't bother making different tiles. It was fun making the mining cart, as well as the crossed pick/shovel icon.

Commercial District was initially just the Euro sign and a spot to hold a cube, but went back and added some shopping buildings, like the art had (crazy aside, Blender 2.79 doesn't have a Euro symbol, stock). The Industrial Center was initially much more sprawling with more detail - but I dialed it back in so it would look more like a factory.

Lava Flow is from many iterations - wanted more crevices & more irregular crevices, added irregular lip, knocked out part of the wall that holds the cube nicely. It looks kind of chunky in the preview, but it prints fine.

I did consider imprinting the icons on the bottom of each tile, but there could be hassles with support. Kept it simple.
