About the Game

Gillers from around the world come to compete in the most famous (and dangerous) fishing contest in the land—The Ogrefish Fishing Tournament! Seasoned anglers compete by fishing-up and fighting monsters using swords, brass knuckles and magic items. Defeat monsters to gain trophies. First Giller to 4 trophies wins and receives the most coveted title in all of the fishing sport—Master Giller! Have what it takes to be crowned the world’s greatest fisher?

Gameplay proceeds with a Giller (active player) and a Second (player to their left) going through the 5 phases of a turn—Bait, Fishing, Fighting, Rewards, End.

Like any good fisherman, selecting the right bait is key to increase your chances of success. The Giller rolls a die to determine the free bait type—cyclops shrimp, bony spider or armored grub. Don’t like the free bait? You may also play an action card to “chum the water” to attract a different type of monster.

Next, the Giller and the Second fish by each rolling one die and then adding in a fishing pole (and other equipment) value to “reel-in” a monster. Giller gains rewards (action cards, magic items, etc.) for fishing based on the risk involved. With the monster now revealed, weapons are decided and fighting begins. Giller and Second each roll two dice (three if the monster is weak against their equipped weapon), play explosive weapons and action cards. If the monster is defeated the Giller gains a trophy, if it is their fourth trophy they immediately win. But Beware! The other Gillers (or even your own Second) might turn cutthroat and take action against you to try to deny you trophies and keep you from winning the title of Master Giller!
