War of the Ring: the Card Game box & expansions Modular Storagemaxxed Futureproof Insert

The thin vacuum molded insert provided in this game is pretty much garbage, never stopped tokens from going all over the place when stored vertically and didn't have space for expansions. I couldn't find a publicly available insert for this game that I'd like, so I decided to take the time to make one myself.

I made it with the following requirements in mind:

Has to fit as many cards and tokens as possible
Has to accommodate sleeved cards
Has to accommodate coin capsules for tokens
Has to be futureproof in case of new expansions (one coming this year) so that it doesn't have to be fully remodeled and reprinted in the future
The only downside of this approach for someone might be that there is no clearance for the manuals - for games like these I like to store them separately anyway. Currently the 3 available manuals create just a few millimeters of acceptable lid lift and tokens shouldn't fly around too much, that might not be the case for cards stored "flat" and not stopped by another element.

I realized that the boxes' inside dimensions (285 x 285 x 69 - NICE!) can be cleanly divided into 6 areas of 95 x 142.5. These cane be divided further into two layers of 34.5 mm height each and store sleeved CCG sized cards vertically with sturdy 1.5 mm walls.

I then iterated on this idea and found out there are multiple ways someone might want to use this space and that's how I made a lot of different variations that you can choose from, to your taste.

Some of the sleeves I use just barely fit inside without any squeeze, so your mileage may vary - if you use sleeves that are oversized too much I'd make some measurements first and adjust as needed.

The CCG cards box with interchangeable dividers is a little flimsy to use, so you might opt for another version instead if that's your preference. Be aware that the slot is 1.5 mm wide and the divider is 1.45 mm thick. Adjust this in the slicer as needed - in my case, printing them this way (Anycubic Kobra X, 0.4 mm nozzle, SUNLU PLA 2.0+, 0.2 mm layer height, flat to the build plate) resulted in perfect clearance and a strong wall that doesn't wobble and makes vertical storage of the game box a non-issue.

I chose to fill the box with 6 CCG boxes with dividers, one alternate Oversized box, one small token tray and one mixed tray, but your needs or preferences might vary.

On the photo you can see all of the sleeved cards and tokens from the base game and the two available expansions. There's so much space left!

You should need at least one token insert with big spaces for the Ring tokens.

If you decide to print the "alternate" box for sleeved Oversized cards, just don't get creative like I did and print it with randomized seams. I love the funny visual effect, but it will scrape the neighboring inserts AND the cards inside...

Also FYI, while printing the divider boxes I've had numerous and quite several VFAs and I am yet to find out why. It doesn't affect the functionality at all. I thought it might be an issue with the type of corners I designed or the seam placement, but it doesn't make much sense to me, as I printed the same type of box, just without the dividers, without any issue at all.
