Basics

This is an organizer set for the game Wingspan, intended to organize the base game plus all existing expansions, as well as (as best as I could plan for) all future expansions.

It is spill proof, snaps together magnetically, and replaces some game components, such as the bird trays and end of round goal board, with 3d printed versions which are easier to use and save space in your playing area.

Both STL and STEP files are available.

This is a redesign of my original organizer set that I made, which could hold the the base game plus the European, Oceania, Asia, and Fan Designed Promo Pack expansions all in the original box. With this expansion, I have opted to use a second box (I recommend Oceania, but you can use any box you'd like) to hold all of the larger paper and cardboard items, such as player mats, scorepads, hummingbird tracks, rulebooks, etc.

If you don't have all expansions and want something that fits in a single box

Take a look at my V1 organizer here

Why use a second box?

With the release of the Americas expansion, I found that while it would be possible to continue to fit everything into the base box, future expansions would almost certainly make this impossible, especially for people who don't want to have to pick and choose which game pieces they include/exclude, including automata cards and rulebooks.

I found that this one compromise allow this design to not need to compromise on pretty much anything else. I could keep the set spill-proof, keep the magnetic lids which act as improved end-of-round goal boards, and include plenty of space for future expansions.

If you do not have all of the expansions (and don't plan to get them)

If you do not have all of the expansions (at the time of writing this, they are Europe, Oceania, Asia, Americas, and the Fan Designed Promo Packs) or value keeping everything to a single box and are OK with picking and choosing some elements to leave out of the box, I highly recommend checking out my V1 organizer set , which can be found as the original model of which this set is a remix. That set can fit everything that currently exists except for the Americas expansion in a single box. With the addition of the Americas expansion, that organizer set ended up not being able to fit about 100 bird cards.

Now, about printing this set

This set consists of the following quantities of the following prints:

2x Card Box - Tall

1x Lid - Competitive

1x Lid - Casual

1x Lid - Bird Tray

I included "With Birds" and "Blank" versions of this lid. The With Birds version, I embossed into it a few of my favorite birds.

If you decide to make your own lid out of the blank version, post it as a make so others can use it too if they prefer it!

1x Dice Box (also holds the hummingbird cards)

1x Game Pieces - Eggs + Nectar (also holds end of round goals)

1x Game Pieces - Food

1x Game Pieces - Player Tokens

1x Lid - Hummingbird Tray

I included "With Birds" and "Blank" versions of this lid. The With Birds version, I embossed into it a few of what I thought were the coolest looking hummingbirds.

If you decide to make your own lid out of the blank version, post it as a make so others can use it too if they prefer it!

It is also is designed to use 6mm x 3mm circular magnets. Any of that size will do, but for the lazy, here are the exact ones I use . This set uses 56 magnets.

You will want to be careful with the orientation of your magnets as you install them. I simply install them using a tiny dab of super glue in the hole before putting the magnet in.

What is intended to go in the base box vs. the second box?

In the base box with this organizer:

All cards (Bird, Bonus, Hummingbird, Automata, etc.)

Dice

Player Cubes

Hummingbird tokens

Food

Eggs

It can't fit all of the eggs from all expansions, but it can fit plenty (I've never come close to running out in a 4 person game)

End of round goal tiles

Duet tokens

Everything else goes in the second box (I use the Oceania box since it's the smallest that can fit a player mat)

Player mats

Hummingbird tracks

Hummingbird player mat overlays

Score pads

A pen

Rulebooks (the base rulebooks can't fit in the Oceania box, but I don't use them anyways. If you want them, use a box that can fit them.)

How much space is left for future expansions?

The following provisions exist in this set for future expansions (or remixing of this set if anyone would like to customize it, that'd be cool).

The organizer is currently only about 60% full of bird/bonus/automata cards (this includes all expansions which I listed above that exist as of writing this)

That means this set could hold about an additional 350-400 cards, which I believe it likely more than will ever be added

If it turns out that future expansions don't require more space for bird cards but instead add a lot of other components, the bird boxes could be shrunk and other storage could be added.

It's about 75% full of hummingbird cards (including automata). I don't expect future expansions to add many more hummingbirds, if any.

Could fit 18 or so more

There's extra space in the "Player tokens box" which was intentionally left empty

There's space for about 7 more end of round goal tiles (currently there are 29, this set can fit about 36)

The slots which hold the duet tokens are quite a bit larger than they need to be. More stuff could be stored in one of them.

Cards supplied by each expansion

Just some potentially useful info for anyone trying to remix this model (this does not include "informational" cards, like ones that have rules printed on them).

This totals to 678 large (57x87 mm) cards and 52 small (44x67 mm) cards. These counts may be a little bit off when it comes to automata cards, but they should be pretty close.
