Parametric Gridfinity Paint Rack

A parametric paint rack for the gridfinity system with aligned rows.

The included fusion360 file will auto-generate and align the maximum number of paint slots for a user-specified brand that fit in the specified grid. The following parameters can be changed:

• slotsWide: number of grid units in the X direction

• slots Deep: number of grid units in the Y direction

• slotsHigh: height of the grid plate. Recommend 1/3

• paint: brand of paint, determines the hole size.

• hole_offset: change this depending on how tight of a fit you want for your bottles. 0.25-0.3 mm works for me.

• min_spacing: the minimum distance you want between the paint holes (and between paint holes and grid walls).

When changing the grid size parameters, new bodies may appear under Blank Storage:1 > Bodies. Simply combine all of them before saving as mesh.

The fusion 360 file includes measurements for the following hobby paint brands:

• Archive X 30 mL

• Vallejo 17 mL (may work for bottles from other brands)

• Vallejo 35 & 60 mL

• Tamiya 10 mL

• Tamiya 23 mL

• Citadel 12 mL

• Alclad 1 fl oz (US distribution)

• Alclad 30 mL (distributed by Ammo; different size from US bottles)

• Model Master ½ fl oz

• Ammo Oilbrusher/Streakingbrusher

• a few other random bottles I had laying around

If you would like another brand added, feel free to send me the measurements (diameter of the bottle base) and I will update the model.

DISCLAIMER: The measurements included in the file were taken from bottles that I personally own. Manufacturers change paint bottles over time, and different parts of the world may have bottles of different sizes. Test the holder you want in a 1x1 size to make sure you have proper fit before printing larger grids.

For your convenience I have generated a number of configurations using common hobby paint brands at several grid sizes. For the pre-generated .3mf files, I use slotsHigh = ⅓, min_spacing= 2 mm, and hole_offset = 0.3 mm. XxY in the file name indicates the number of grids in the X direction and the number of grids in the Y direction, respectively. Due to the symmetry of the hole pattern, a 2x3 grid will be the same as a 3x2 grid.
