Illuminated Dice Case & Rolling Tray <WIP>

Highly WIP, the dice holder is made to fit exactly one kind of dice, the Greifenfels (bought at sci-fi book store) ones I have on hand, not sure how to make a more universal fitment without loosing the tight feel of the current setup.
The left set is the “Glitter Light Blue - Numbers: White” and the right set is “Glitter Blue - Numbers: White” (I honestly thought they were the same when I bought em…) I'll probably either get a matching set of the light blue or go for another light color, the non-light dice are a bit too opaque for my liking making the effect not as cool.

The dice holder is symmetrical, if you want you can mirror one copy in X axis to make the D8 & D12 dice mirrored.

This is version 1, I have a lot of improvements and additions planned out and working through, main one being v2 of the dice holders will be separated into 2 layers, the dice holder on top, and the lighting layer underneath, and I'll make a lighting layer version for RGB strip (mostly for the addressable element, not so much the RGB in my case, though with clear/white dice I guess RGB could be an option) my intent is for v2 to use the exact same case, only replacing the internals. v2 probably will need external USB power or similar to fit the micro-controller where the 18650 goes in v1, don't think I can fit a micro-controller and 18650.

Pictures are of “version 0” it's how I designed the parts one by one and later glued/drilled to assemble it, and added the holes in the designs or in the case of the case bottom + pillars integrated parts that could be integrated, there are some vestigial features I'm not sure about removing or not, I thought I could add 10mm x 1mm magnets to the walls to hold the lid and base next to each other when open, but the attraction was pretty minimal, and non-existent once I added the edge pieces, I've also considered adding a hinge and maybe a clasp on the other side, but I'm not sure, could add both as an option. “v0” in the pictures has a extra printed lid on top of the magnets in the dice holders because I added the magnets there by drilling a hole, I tried adding a 10mm x 1mm on top of the dice holder but that wasn't sufficient, “v1” has the hole integrated.

The edge pieces are optional but I like them, not integrated into the case parts because the supports it would require and how much it would impact the cosmetics. Speaking of cosmetics I intend to paint the case at a later date to look like wood, and the corner pieces to look like metal.

The dice holders were also originally meant to be usable with a smaller case for only one set, not sure about making that version still since I don't see how I'd integrate the lighting, might just make a one set version for the v2 where the dice holder isn't tried to the lighting part directly, would be more compact to not have the room underneath for the LEDs that you can't use anyway. I could also add a version that uses a small lipo pack underneath.

BOM beyond 3d printed files:

10mm magnets (can use smaller magnets, but you need to either adjust the holes or print an adapter) holds the lid and bottom of the case together, so I'd suggest using pretty beefy magnets, I'm using 10x6mm neodymium and I can lift the case by grabbing the lid.
Glue (superglue would be my suggestion, I only had gorilla glue on hand which foamed up past the edge pieces a bit) to attach the edge pieces and magnets
3mm LEDs (14 total) & 14 resistors use https://ledcalculator.net or similar to pair the right LEDs and resistors based on battery, I used white because that works with any translucent/transparent color dice, but you can use any color you want obviously.
18650 battery
18650 holder (there are 3d printed ones, just make sure they fit into the case, I used an off the shelf one)
Wires to wire it all up, solder & soldering iron
7x7mm latching on/off switch (what I used, but any small on/off switch would work)
4x M3 20mm (counter sunk preferably), longer works, but would protrude inside.
4x M3 nuts (I used square nuts, but normal ones work fine)
1-2mm foam/cloth/felt or similar, makes rolling the dice in the tray nicer sounding and the slight padding helps the dice stay in their holders

Print Instructions:

Variable layer height and PLA/PETG would be my recommendation, print the case pieces with a 30~ degree z turn on 200x250 printers to stay clear of the usually cooler edges of the build plate. Pictures are of eSun PLA basic grey, the battery cover is the only piece that needs supports
