TLDR I made a thing to mount your steam deck to a planes tray table. I printed in PETG in the orientation in the picture attached for strength/flexibility. May not fit if you're using a skin or case for your deck. Use at your own risk! Mirror the mount in your slicer for the other side! More detailed caveats below the following wall of text! /TLDR

Being inspired from various peg board holder designs for the deck, I modeled and printed my own seat back tray mount for my steam deck, with removable table clips to allow for different mounting systems in the future. This is version 3 and the first I got to use on board so your mileage may vary! So far this has survived two 9+ hour flights without issue; turbulence and landings included. I was able to smoothly pull the steam deck directly from the mount if someone sat next to me needed to get past, yet still had enough clearance that I didn't need to remove it everytime I got up.

I honestly wasn't expecting interest for this to blow up as it did on reddit, I just had a need for a thing so I made it.. bare in mind this release is just that.. my quick solution to a personal issue! After a few uses, I do have some quibbles I'd like to improve upon in future:

• Angling the steam deck back a little more to improve on the lower eyeline (compared to the seat back screens onboard). it isn't bad.. just could be better.

• Beyond the above.. making the angle adjustable on the fly (heh puns).

• Additional clips for other mounting solutions.

• Generally slimming up the design to improve travelability/storage/printing ease.

These future updates would usually happen in a rushed fashion just days before I next fly, but given the interest perhaps I'll update sooner and put newer versions online for a small fee.

Some important caveats:

PRINT ORIENTATION/MATERIALS IS PROBABLY IMPORTANT! - I printed this in PETG with numerous walls, and was modelled quite thickly.. likely excessive but I didn't want to risk any weakness for the first used iteration. The table clips definitely benefited from this; since table thickness can vary I wanted something that can bend a little to fit various sizes. I'm also including the orientation I printed these at in the images.

ONLY THE LEFT MOUNT IS PROVIDED - Mirror it in your slicer to get the right side mount :D

THIS MAY NOT FIT YOUR STEAM DECK IF YOU'RE USING A VINYL SKIN/CASE! - This is modelled to be as 1:1 to the deck as I could make it. This is in order to limit any movement of the deck within the mount during turbulence/landing. Mine sat happily throughout a bunch of turbulence and 2 landings without issue. No scratches to my steam deck either. If you're using a skin you could attempt to scale up the prints slightly to allow for it.. but thats at your own prerogative! :)

SAND THIS AFTER SUPPORT REMOVAL! - Mostly important for the grip mounts to ensure you don't have any risk of scratching up your steam deck! I also had to spend a little attention on the leg clip to make sure it marries with the grip mount more smoothly.
