Tile Grid for Gaia Project (incl. Lost Fleet)

One small quibble I have with this almost perfect game are the sector tiles:

Once laid out, it is nearly impossbile to move them on the table without destroying the game board. This is espacially true when playing with the Lost Fleet expansion.

There are no graphical elements indicating the border of a sector tile. This makes it difficult to quickly check which sectors contain buildings of a faction, which is important for certain scoring conditions.

To mitigate these issues I designed a tile grid system of connectable elements. It's pretty straight forward:

First lay out the grid...

...then add the tiles.

Done!

You can now move the whole game board and it's also a bit easier to spot indivdual sectors.

When playing with the Lost Fleet expansion, add the elements for the Interspace tiles (1 hex) and the Deep Space Sector tiles (3 hexes).

Start with the Base Game grid elements...

...add the Lost Fleet grid elements...

...and, finally, put all tiles onto the grid.

Before printing a whole set of tiles, print 3 instances of the test model. Put them together and check how well the connectors fit. Ideally, you should be able to connect them without using any force.

If you find they are too tight, set the X/Y compensation parameter to -0.05 mm or -0.1 mm and print again. Repeat until you are happy with the result. In case the connection is too lose, do the same but use positive values instead. Also, don't print too fast.

For the dual color effect add a filament change above 2 mm print height.
