HO Model Trains - Traditional to EZ Track Turnout Adapters
Please support Everett Ramer by Liking/Boosting their Print on Printables.
I have a seasonal HO-scale layout that I set up for the winter months and take down for the rest of the year, which is why I really enjoy the snap-together track. I also have a bunch of traditional track that a neighbor was throwing out. So when I had problems with of the snap-track turnouts, I decided to design adapters that make it possible to incorporate my traditional turnouts in my layout.
The adapters are basically a 7.3 mm thick track bed that allows traditional HO-scale turnouts to match the thickness of the EZ track. The radii of the curves are 18". The turnouts come in two varieties: single-piece and split into two pieces, so you can fit them on your printer bed. Join the pieces together with 3/8" #2 sheet metal screws (Larger hole on the larger part). You do not need to fasten the traditional track onto the adapter, the EZ track will hold it in place. Special thanks to Sendel who posted his model of the EZ track latch (https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/e-z-track-connection-latch). I used this to make my adapters.
I have also added a model of the EZ trak connector that can be added to any track project. The length of this segment is 25 mm.
There is also a generic model that provides the roadbed height, but does not snap together with the EZ track. Attach the legacy track to the roadbed with 3/8" #2 sheet metal screws. You may find the printable washer included in this model useful. Use a #48 drill bit for through holes and a #46 bit for threaded holes.
