Splendor Marvel Token Holder

This is another one of those projects born out of necessity that ended up being shared because it might help someone else.

Is it the most optimized token holder ever designed? Absolutely not. Does it feature a revolutionary locking mechanism developed by NASA? Also no. But for what it is supposed to do, I think it does the job pretty well.

The idea came from an upcoming camping trip with my son and some friends. I wanted to bring a few lightweight board games without carrying a pile of boxes. Splendor Marvel was on the shortlist, but the original insert is not exactly travel friendly. The tokens tend to move around, and while there are already some fantastic inserts and storage solutions available here, my goal was different.

Instead of improving the entire game box, I wanted to fit several games into a single box. Mostly card games, plus Splendor Marvel. The plan is to bring one box containing four or five different games and save as much space as possible.

That is how this simple token holder was born. Its only mission is to keep the gem tokens together and stop them from spreading all over the place during transport.

I have not fully decided which games are coming on the trip yet, but I placed a few inside the box in the photos to illustrate the concept. There is still room for another couple of games if I get creative.

As far as I know, the original Splendor uses the same number of tokens, so this holder should work there as well. Unfortunately, I do not own the original game to test it myself. If it turns out that some adjustments are needed, let me know in the comments and I will see what I can do.
