Holy Book of Fate - Dice Tower Book

Hello, fellow devotees of the roll of the dices! Thou shalt read these instructions carefully to accomplish the miracle of the print and assembly. Materials and print recommendations shalt be found below.

Inspired by the Dice Tower Bookbox Insert by Artist11d, but not owning the faux book, not wanting the drawer and wanting to increase my FreeCad skills, I decided to make the faux book myself and redesigned the tower that holds simply with magnets.

• HolyBookofFate-Content : the fake pages, with 3 holes for magnets to hold the tower in 2 positions (up and laying down), 2 other holes for magnets to hold the top cover and 6 holes for M2.5 nuts and screws.

• HolyBookofFate-CoverBottom : the bottom and side part of the cover. With 6 holes for the M2.5 screws.

• HolyBookofFate-CoverTop : the top part of the cover with 6 holes for M2.5 screws.

• HolyBookofFate-Hinge : the print in place hinge with 6 holes for M2.5 screws. To be printed twice.

• HolyBookofFate-Text-Book : the word “Book”.

• HolyBookofFate-Text-Dices : the dices logo.

• HolyBookofFate-Text-Fate : the word “Fate”.

• HolyBookofFate-Text-Holy : the word “Holy”.

• HolyBookofFate-Text-of : the word “of”.

• HolyBookofFate-tower : the dice tower insert with 2 holes for magnets.

• HolyBookofFate.pdf: optional, the text to print from a normal printer.

• Superglu

• 6 M2.5*4 socket-head cap screws.

• 6 M2.5*12 socket-head cap screws. (Ideally 2 M2.5*12 and 4 M2.5*11 but I could not find any)

• 12 ISO or DIN M2.5 nuts. Here I used DIN912 nuts.

• 9 magnets. Diameter 5mm, thickness 2mm.

• HolyBookofFate-tower : In the slicer, lay the tower on its back, and cut it in 2 to avoid having to use supports and spare quite some time. Height of the horizontal cut: 36mm above bed. Keep both parts.

• I used 0.20mm speed settings with 20% infill for HolyBookofFate-Content, HolyBookofFate-CoverBottom and HolyBookofFate-tower

• I used 0.15mm Quality settings with 15% infill for the rest.

• Glue 2 magnets to the top the fake pages. !!! Polarity is important and must be kept in the same direction !!!

• Glue 2 magnets to the top cover. Again, polarity is important, otherwise the cover will be repelled and not attracted. Test with the top of the fake pages before continuing to avoid wasting material.

• Glue 3 magnets to the remaining holes inside of the fake pages. Again, polarity must be in the same direction.

• Glue 2 magnets to the towers, again watching for polarity. Test they attract each other well before continuing.

• Assemble the fake pages to the bottom cover.

• Secure the fake pages to the bottom cover using 6 M2.5*12 screws and nuts going through the short part of the 2 hinges, then the bottom cover, then the fake pages. Nuts to be put inside of the fake pages.

• Glue the fake pages to the bottom cover for good measure.

• Glue the letters and the dices to the top cover before assembling it. The pockets on the top cover are not meant to secure them but to guide you. I initially made the pockets deeper to secure the letters but it made the gluing process too complex.

• Secure the top cover to the long part of the hinges using 6 M2.5*4 screws and nuts.

• Optional: glue the text to the tower.
