Clank! Catacombs - Magnetic Tile Holder and Insert
Please support JC Wollslager by Liking/Boosting their Print on Printables.
For the record, this was my first attempt at making something like this and it shows.
Files are all pretty self-descriptive, and I didn't really do anything specific with settings. If you do want to put this together for some god awful reason and don't make smarter decisions than I did, at least have some tips:
• Print the dungeon tile holders (I think I called them the tile stackers?) sideways so that the layer lines are vertical when it stands up. This'll make the tiles slide in smoother. Those also use magnets, specifically these if you're curious, that friction-fit in (I dunno why they stay so well). Glue is still recommended.
• The dungeon tile frames use magnets, specifically these if you're curious, and I highly recommend printing a dummy frame to put the magnets in so you can ensure they always go the right way into the frames since I used glue to keep them in.
• Print all the card holders with as little infill as you can get away with, maybe even with a thicker nozzle and fewer walls. The box is going to be HEAVY otherwise.
• A lot of things might seem like they're missing. This is because I use drawstring bags for all the missing parts, and I recommend you do too.
But man, if there's one thing I nailed, it's that once you get the magnets in, they are perfectly where they need to be to easily slide all the tiles by pushing any tile in any direction slowly, but having them separate when you want them to. God it's so satisfying. I failed at a lot of things, I crushed that part.
Anyways, best of luck to ya. I'm dumping this online for someone to hopefully remix or improve if someone would be so inclined.
