Model Description
Ever wanted to play a seafarers version of Star Trek Catan? This is the page for you :)
Instruction steps and details below.
- First of all you will need more tiles. I found it convenient to order on eBay another set of tiles and borders. Alternatively you can print a whole bunch of black hex tiles and paste printed photos of the planets.
- Print hex tiles in black. Even if you order a second set of tiles from stock Star Trek Catan game you will need to print at least seven more tiles for empty space plus one for the extra asteroids.
- Two 3Dprinted hex tiles for two Earth planets (which are the traditional Catan Gold tiles) which can give you resource choice as per Catan Seafarers rules. I had some fun and gave this Earth gold-press latinium rings for flair. A model you can print in gold color is also provided.
- Print the provide model of two special corner-end pieces, I decorated them with comet graphics.
- Edge extensions, I have six pictured which I custom cut for the extra set of border pieces. Alternatively you can 3Dprint the provided single extension edge model.
- For the trading stations you can you use my starbase model link here:
- I repurposed the Stock ships to function as Deep Space starships traversing empty space. For the equivalent of Catan Roads, the following Planetary Starship model can be used:
- You need a pirate for the empty space, you have flexibility here to choose your favorite alien race ship, I decided to use a TOS romulan bird of prey:
- Also handy is an optional Card holder, link to one pictured here Catan Card Tray/Holder Snapable & Stackable by Popsicle_peon - Thingiverse
Happy Catan Trekking!!!
