Star Wars RPG (FFG) Magnetic Dice Box + Destiny Token Stand
Please support Matlair by Liking/Boosting their Print on Printables.
This is one of the first models I made in Fusion 360 for personal use, but I figured why not put it here for others to find use of.
Ever since I bought two sets of SW RPG dice to play the roleplaying game, I struggled to find a suitable box to keep the dice in so they don't clutter the table during play. So, I made my own.
##
THE BOX AND LID
It's approx. 18.5x10x2.7cm big and fits two sets of Star Wars RPG Dice. The compartments are appropriately sized to fit the different amounts of dice per type, with enough space around them to comfortably take them out, with a little leftover space in the lower right-hand side to keep misc. stuff in.
There are indents for inserting 6x3mm magnets in the lid, the top, bottom and front side of the box and the token stand. From experience, two out of four magnets are strong enough to easily hold the thing together. The magnet spaces on the bottom are prepared for another part of the box I’m working on, which will hold two spinning counters for wounds / strain, pencils and tokens. When the next parts are done, I will add them here, but this “first story” of the box is enough to hold the dice and destiny tokens.
The decorative stencil on the lid can be printed in a separate color / material.
##
THE TOKEN STAND
The token stand can be attached to the front of the box using 6x3mm magnets again. There are 3 magnet spaces, but two magnets are enough. It is modeled to be used with the cardboard tokens that come with the dice – 8 tokens in total. They are held in their spots by tension so they shouldn’t fall out while you’re handling the stand or box.
The model in the photos was printed on a Prusa MK4 (0.4mm nozzle) in PLA, 0.3mm layer height with a 20% adaptive cubic infill. I strongly recommend printing the token holder so that the magnet holes are touching the heatbed to avoid any misshaping.
##
More “stories” for the box to keep misc. stuff in (tokens, counters, pencils, erasers…) and possibly miniature storage.
##
The magnets will not hold just by tension alone, you will need to use a bit of glue to keep them in their slots.
