Before you print
Fits sleeved cards

This is an insert designed to fit the game _Dune Imperium Uprising_ plus the expansions _Rise of Ix_, _Immortality_, and _Bloodlines_. This is an updated version of my [original insert](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6539263) which supported only the two earlier expansions (Immortality and Ix). In addition, I have improved some of the designs and changed/improved the layout from the original insert so everything fits together better. (If you printed my earlier version of this insert and now wnat to upgrade to add Bloodlines, see the end of this description for what parts you can potentially reuse.)

This insert supports sleeved cards\*, and holds all the content from the four original boxes in just the main game's box. This design interlocks many of the parts and boards to keep things from sliding around with very little (less than 3mm) lid lift even with all the rulebooks and reference sheets.

**Improvements over the original insert:**

- Card boxes have more functional finger cutouts which make it a lot easier to get all the cards out of the boxes.
- The big deck boxes (for Imperium and Intrigue cards) now have a finger hold cutout to make them easier to remove from the box.
- The water tokens box has a rounded bottoms which can make it easier to get tokens out.
- All the various layers should line up and interlock better than before, with no 3D-printed parts sitting on game components as could happen with the older design.

The original insert had an Imperium card grid and holder which I have removed from this insert as there isn't room for those optional items.

Most of these models have embossed sections which can be printed in one of three different ways:

1) Use a second color to fill in the embossed area (as seen in the pictures for this insert). If your printer supports multiple materials (or if you know how to manually manage filament changes), you can import the main model .stl file and it's corresponding "_emobss.stl" file(s)† together as one part, then set the parts' colors as desired. (I've also provided two .3mf files with all the models pre-loaded in 0.16 and 0.20 settings for Orca Slicer if that is your slicer.)

2) Have no embossing. You basically follow the same steps as above, but don't select a different color for the "_emboss.stl" parts of the models. In this case, you might want to print the parts in different colors (especially for the player boxes) so they can be more easily distinguished from each other.

3) Use a "negative" embossing where material is simply omitted in the embossed areas. To print like this, ignore the "_emboss.stl" files and just print the main model files by themselves. Note that you will probably need supports for the embossed box lids. I have not printed any of these files this way and you might find the depth of the embossing weakens the printed models. YMMV.

The boxes with lids print best at 0.16 line height (0.4 nozzle) but 0.20 is OK for everything else. You really want to use 0.16 (or lower) for the boxes with lids as there are some small but steep overhangs that are supported much better by a slightly smaller line height. (Check your slice preview.) No supports are needed if you print at 0.16 or lower. Also, the two deck box models (**imperium_deck_box.stl** and **intrigue_deck_box.stl**) print with the open end "up" and the riser part should not need supports if you print them at 0.16 layer height or lower and slow down and cool while printing the overhangs.

If your printer does a decent job of ironing you might want to use ironing on all top surfaces of the models where the embossing is on a top surface. This is what I did for the models in the pictures. This really helps fill in the small holes that might otherwise be present in the filled embossed areas. There's not much point in ironing the box lids because the visible part of the embossing is the first layer of the print.

I printed these with 15% gyroid infill, but you can use 10% infill if you increase the number of top shell layers by one (or if you don't care about slight imperfections in the bottoms of the boxes). Note, however, that there is not a lot of infill in many of these models, so less infill percentage won't save you much filament. PLA+ works great for all of these.

Finally, the lids for all the boxes are friction fit and fit the bottom of their boxes so they don't get lost during play. The tolerances on these can be somewhat tight, but they came out beautifully on my Bambu X1C.

You will need to print one of most of the models, with the following exceptions:
* print four each of **player_box.stl** and **player_box_lid.stl** (+ emboss, if desired) models.
* the Solari and Spice boxes are the same, so print two of **spice_solari_box.stl**, but only one of each Solari/Spice lid.

**Usage notes:**

The leaders card box has cutouts in the bottom to hold a) the two cubes for Feyd and Chani; b) the 10 Navigation cards for Y'rkoon; c) the 12 Twisted Intrigue cards for Piter; and d) Tuek's Sietch board spcare tile.

The seven Sardaukar Commanders (both figures and cubes) will fit in the worm box along with both kinds of worms.

\* I use Arcane Tinmen Matte Board Game Sleeves, which is what I designed this for. The larger cards are 92.5mm x 67mm when sleeves, and the smaller cards are 71mm x 45.5mm. Any sleeves bigger than these might not fit.
† Some models have two "_emboss.stl" files to allow for the different icons to be different colors.

**Upgrading from V1:**

Unchanged parts:
----------------
_(No need to reprint unless you just have spare filament you want to use up 🙃)_

- Six player lid (the box needs to be reprinted)
- six_player_box_lid.stl / six_player_box_lid_emboss.stl

- Solari and Spice tokens box lids (the boxes need to be reprinted)
- solari_box_lid.stl / solari_box_lid_emboss.stl
- spice_box_lid.stl / spice_box_lid_emboss.stl

Water tokens box and lid (the water tokens box has a rounded bottom now, but is the same size)
- water_box.stl
- water_box_lid.stl / water_box_lid_emboss.stl

Worms box and lid
- worm_box.stl
- worm_box_lid.stl / worm_box_lid_emboss.stl

Very slightly changed parts:
----------------------------
_(You probably don't need to reprint these unless you're really a perfectionist)_

- Immortality tokens box (very slight change in size, but old box should work fine)
- imm_tokens_box.stl
- imm_tokens_box_lid.stl
- imm_tokens_box_lid_emboss.stl

- Ix tokens box (very slight change in height, but the old box should work fine)
- ix_tokens_box.stl
- ix_tokens_box_contract_emboss.stl
- ix_tokens_box_tech_emboss.stl

Slightly changed:
-----------------
_(Everything will fit better if you use these new parts, but you don't strictly *have* to)_

- Conflict cards box (slight increase in size)
- conflict_cards_deck.stl
- conflict_cards_deck_emboss.stl

- Objective cards box (slight decrease in size)
- objective_cards_deck.stl
- objective_cards_deck_emboss.stl

Everything else is changed enough that you really need to print these new pieces.
