Secret Hitler is a social deduction game for 5-16 people about finding and stopping Hitler. I have created this design using experience from playing countless games with other models and versions. The fruit of that is this edition of the game: Secret Hitler Deluxe.

If you are not familiar with the game, check out the rules here: Secret Hitler Rules

This design also includes a Communists Expansion, which is explained below. It is optional; you can print only the base game or include it.

Let's start with...

The Box

The box is designed so that every component has its place. It's sturdy and has a sliding lid that locks into place with magnets.

The Policies

The policies are a bit bigger than in most designs and easier to handle.

I have designed the game to be printed with a single extruder printer using only color changes. The policies are split into the outer shell and the inserts, but there is no glue involved.

The inserts are printed first, and then as the outer shells print, they are put in using an interlock that is printed over: fusing the inserts into place.

The Passports

The passports given to each player are split into the Party Membership on the left, and the Role on the right. There are 17 unique designs for the Role "photographs", for which I used the litophane technique. They have a lot of detail even though they are monochrome.

Each passport incorporates 4 magnets, which keeps them shut safely. During Investigations, the Party Membership section can be opened without risking the Role section opening as well. As a bonus, the magnets make the passports want to stack nicely.

The Policy Holder

The holder keeps two stacks of policies: the draw stack and the discard stack. It helps the game in several ways:

The hinged lid eliminates one potential confusion. As the President and Chancellor discard policies during a Legislative Session, they don't have to wonder and double check which stack is the discard in order not to make a mistake. Only the discard stack is open.

The draw stack includes windows on the side, spaced every 3 policies. It means players don't need to count individual policies to know how many are left. There are 4 windows filled? Then there are 4 governments left until a shuffle.

The most important element is the draw slider mechanism. Pushing the gold sliders makes 3 policies come out of the draw stack. No longer does the President have to worry about drawing the right amount and making a mistake, or picking them up one by one just to be sure. Just push the sliders, and 3 policies come out, every time!

The Voting Sliders

The problem with separate voting cards, is that they may inadvertently both end up face up in front of a player, which brings confusion to counting votes, and players having to confirm that "this one was my vote".

The slider design avoids that by making it impossible to show both votes at once. Magnets inside the slider make it satisfyingly snap into one of the two positions.

It also makes for a great fidget toy!

The Government Placards

The Chancellor and President placards have detachable supports that store neatly into the box.

The Policy Tracks

For the tracks I used big bold letters and symbols for the Powers, making them easy to read (and print!). The Fascist policies track includes player count reminders for the first 3 Powers, which aren't used unless playing with the required number of players. It also has a "warning stripe" in the second half, indicating the area where the "Hitler becomes Chancellor" Fascist win condition is active.

The Liberal policies track includes the Election Tracker for counting failed votes. Magnets embedded in the track and the rotating arrow make it snap into one of the 3 positions.

The Communists Expansion and rules

The included expansion is based on the community-created "Secret Hitler XL" with some modifications.

In the Other Files download section, you will find a PDF reference sheet I created which contains all the information you need to play the expansion, as well as useful reminders for the base rules. It does not replace the base rules, so if you don't know them, do have a look at Secret Hitler Rules as well.

The Emergency Powers

One last bonus!

The Emergency Powers is a mini-expansion which can be used with the base game alone or with Communists. The included reference PDF explains how they work.

Printing

For the print in the pictures I used the following filaments:

Prusament PLA Opal Green

Prusament PLA Lipstick Red

Prusament PLA Simply Green

Prusament PLA Azure Blue

Prusament PLA Blend Viva La Bronze

Buddy3D PLA Yellow

Magnets

Box
4x 8x2mm magnets

Passports
4x 8x1mm magnets per passport (68 total for the 17 passports)

Voting Sliders
3x 8x2mm magnets (48 total for the 16 sliders)

Election Tracker
4x 8x2mm magnets

Total :

56x 8x2mm magnets

68x 8x1mm magnets

Models

For all models: apply color changes as desired. You can use the pictures for reference. I used a 0.4mm nozzle with one exception below.

Box
You can use a brim if you are worried about warping. Put in print pauses in the slicer to insert magnets in the container and the lid.

Policies
Print the inserts first. Then print the outer shells, and insert a print pause in the slicer. Put in the inserts during the pause. Important: check "Avoid crossing perimeters" and set "Max detour length" to zero in the slicer. This will ensure the nozzle won't crash into the inserts after you put them in.

Passports
Put in print pauses in the slicer to insert magnets. For the Role inserts I used a 0.25mm nozzle for greater detail. This is up to you.
Glue the Party and Role inserts into the passports. You can use Super Glue or another glue of your choosing.

Policy Holder
Print the Pusher part first. Then for the main body, use paint-on supports. Insert a print pause to put in the Pusher part into the main body as it's being printed.

Important: You need to leave gaps in the paint-on supports so that you can put in the Pusher part with the supports being there. See the reference picture below for correct placement of the supports with the 4 necessary gaps:

The lid uses a piece of filament as the axel.

Voting Sliders
Print the Ja, Nein, and Slider parts first. Put in a print pause for the Slider part to insert a magnet.
Print the main body last, insert print pauses to insert 2 magnets, the Ja/Nein parts, and the Slider part. The finished assembly has the Ja/Nein parts fused into place and the Slider part cannot be taken out of the assembly.
If the Slider part feels stuck initally, don't worry, use greater force to push it free. It should move easily afterwards.

Government Placards
No special considerations, just print.

Policy Tracks
For the Liberal track, add a print pause to insert 3 magnets. Same goes for the Election Tracker arrow.
I printed the Election Tracker arrow upside down so that the protruding shaft points up.
