Orléans plus Trade & Intrigue Insert

# Yes, another Orléans Insert... Why?

I looked into all other available inserts and liked some ideas but found that none fulfilled all my wishes for an insert.
I even started printing both [nomorebeef's](https://www.thingiverse.com/nomorebeef/designs) [design](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3998916) and [mrfufu's](https://www.thingiverse.com/mrfufu/designs) [design](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3753782), but none completely satisfied me.

# What I'm looking for

An ideal insert must have all of these characteristics:

## **Insert should help on Set-up**

Orléans has many tokens and tiles and the set-up is very time consuming.
The insert should help quickly set-up and then put away the game.
Another thing on the set-up that's important for Orléans is remembering how many character pieces to remove for each player count, how many coins to give each player, how to set-up the Event tiles. The insert should also help with these reminders, that is why I've written as many useful reminders as I thought of.
Lastly, after set-up, the resources and character boxes should occupy their place on the game board without taking too much space.

## **Boxes with closed lids when possible**

I prefer my inserts to have closed containers so that they can be store vertically and so that they can be transported without messing things up.
Using my own lidded boxes accomplishes that.

## **Original components only**

I haven't upgraded or changed the original components in any way and most of the inserts I've seen are for upgraded components, specially the character pieces.
I tried these [parametric token capsules](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3359223) for the character tokens, but didn't like them so I haven't changed or upgraded my components in any way and finding inserts for the base components was (surprisingly) difficult.
My insert fits the original components of my version of the game.

## **The insert should fit the base game and the Trade & Intrigue expansion**

I'm not interested in the Invasion expansion so I haven't bothered with it, but my insert fits the whole base game and the T&I expansion without lifting the lid.

## **Expansion components should be separate**

I'd like to keep all expansions components separate fro the base game so it is easy to play only the base game if wanted.


With all that in mind, I ended up designing my own insert.

## **What to print**

Print one of each of the files. I put even identical boxes in separate files to facilitate slicing equal color models, which is what I've done.
