This is a current work in progress to replace all cardboard terrain tiles from Ark Nova with 3D-printed models.

I designed them in Fusion360 to challenge myself to see if they can be used for more organic models.

I didn't make them too high on purpose. The plan is that they still fit in the base game box and should not obscure the view of the map.

In case a higher version is wanted, all models should be easily scaleable by 2 in z and still look good.

They are designed in such a way that colors are changed at certain layer heights. This should be possible on most nowadays 3D printers. On the other hand, it should reduce the total print time on multimaterial systems like the MMU, AMS, etc as the number of color switches is very reduced.

As always, I uploaded pre-cut 3mf's (preferred for multimaterial systems) or STL's.

Also as always, refer to the 3D printed guidebook in the download section for further info.

For usage: The populated standard enclosure are placed on top of the empty standard enclosure - there is a cut out on the tiles which fits the numbers of the empty ones.

Important: Once completed the tiles will be released for free and will not remain exclusive.

There is also a complete project file ‘as is’ for usage in OrcaSlicer containing everything predefined. That file will stay exclusive.

3D Terrain Set (WIP) To test my skills in creating more organic shapes (and not only boxes for inserts) I wanted to create something for one of my TopTen games. I came up with creating a 3D Terrain set for Ark Nova. It is currently still a Work In Progress as it misses all the special tiles from Sponsors as well as the new aquarium tiles from the expansion. As I will likely tackle them earliest during Christmas time or the beginning of next year (looking at my backlog of inserts for games) I thought I release it to the wild to gather feedback 🙂 The standard enclosures are 2 parted - one shows the number and is considered unoccupied, the second is a colored version occupied (flippable 3D Terrain tiles are beyond my skill currently). That way it is possible to replace the cardboard tiles (and not as an add-on). All tiles are designed so that a color change is at a certain layer height and uses max 4 different colors (so it should be possible to print on most printers that support color switches or have a unit to change colors). If you think the tiles are a bit small (I like that they don't being to large) you can easily multiply z by 2. If interested - you can find them on my Printables profile .
