I wanted to test a new (to me) method for hinges. In addition, I received feedback on storage ideas on one of my other models.

So I settled with this design.

It is a model (or several combined ones that can also be used separately if not fully assembled) that can collapse during storage/transportation. In the collapsed mode it can also be used for storage of different game pieces in case needed.

To be flexible for future assemblies or if somebody is only interested in particular parts it consists mainly of 3 different compartments:

• LeftTray - used as card trays

• RightTray - has a dice tower included (up to 19.5mm dice can be used)

• CenterTray - here the idea is to mainly store resources and slot some cards in.

I also opened a the printables club if you want to support my work.
As a benefit you can download the complete preset of all files in case you use OrcaSlicer incl. color changes etc.
And in case you want to 3D print and sell my design there is a commercial licence available as well.

Printing requirements/assembly:

Besides the printed pieces, the hinges are connected/assembled by utilizing a piece of 1.75mm filament. I designed all pieces with sufficient tolerances. In order to see if the spec of your printer is fine, I suggest printing at first one of the HingeConnectors and testing them with a piece of filament. I also recognized prior to full assembly it is wise to push the filament through all the printed pieces (in case something was not printed 100% fine).

I prepared also 3mf files where all pieces for a particular assembly are already collected. Each assembly fits on a build plate of an MK3. In case you have a smaller build plate, you can deactivate individual pieces. Each individual part should be printable on a lot of printers.

Other notes (Updated)

I included a pdf for instruction on which pieces belong to what. I updated the pdf printing guide as I found there were some glitches in the previous version related to sizes.

As it is a modular design, tell me if you want to see other modules for the GamerTray.

Happy Printing.

I uploaded a new design to printables - The collapsable Gamers Tray . It can collapsed into a cube for storage / transportation and unfolded for gaming nights. It can be per player (the full fledged version requires a bit of table space, but only a part of it is needed) or as a central storage location for your games. Instructions and download can be found here: Happy Printing.
