Star Wars Unlimited: double sided damage tokens
Please support ryanchakajodda by Liking/Boosting their Print on Printables.
I created these tokens to be used to mark damage on cards in the card game Star Wars Unlimited. The tokens are designed to be printed with a filament swap from red to white to red. These tokens can be used in other games where damage needs to be tracked on cards (such as Keyforge). Each token is dual sided, with a different damage value on each side.
Attached are models for tokens which have:
• 1:2 sides
• 3:4 sides
• 5:6 sides
• 3:5 sides
I recommend printing 10 x 1:2 tokens and 5 x 3:5 tokens. I've added the 3:4 and 5:6 encase someone wants them.
Print Directions
After many many failed prints, I arrived at the settings below to print these tokens. All of these settings are in the “damage_tokens_settings_example” file. (See below for reasoning for these settings.)
Note, one issue I can't solve (for any filament swaps) is the small blob that is created when the print resumes after the swap. My best solution is to print more than 1 token at a time (I print 6 at once) and toss the one that has the swap blob on it.
• Swap filament at 1.1mm and 2.1mm
• Print with 0.1 layer height
• Print with 90% infill (so the tokens have a good weight). I used Gyroid pattern.
• Print using a 0.25mm nozzle (this is your choice, I think it looks much nicer though)
• Print on PEI sheet and use a glue stick
• I printed with Hatchbox PLA
• Ironing enabled on the top layer (optional, but sure looks nice)
• No supports.
• Slow down the print speed to avoid quality issues after swap
• The screenshot of the speed settings:
Print Settings Explanation
Slower Print Speed: Here is an example of a print issue that was solved with slower print speed. Slowing down the print speed fixed the extra line of red filament in the 6 below.
Glue Stick: Due to the thinness of the outer red ring, it would often come loose in the printing process. Adding a brim was not a perfect solution, and the brim would cause cosmetic issues when removing the brim. A higher bed temp did not help consistently, and caused other cosmetic issues.
