Hello,

for those that don't know my ‘insert philosophy’ - I am creating modular inserts that are focused on reducing setup and space on table, filament consumption is not my highest priority, but of course I'm trying to save some material where I can.

Update 23.01.2026:

• I might update this insert to support 3rd expansion, but it's a big MIGHT. I wouldn't be able to avoid large lid lift (like ~2cm), at least not without major redesign, and I don't want to do redesign, I think it would drastically reduce the usability of this insert during the game. I have adventure chest that's why I'm not so keen on updating this one.

• I've added insert for Big Box, you can find on my profile. It supports also Geekup Bits, hopefully I left enough space for next bits that will come this year, if not, I will update it.

Update 02.06.2024 - version 2.0:

• major redesign, all files replaced with new ones. Old files are in Version 1 folder. I decided to go a different route this time. My old design had terrible teardown, it was very hard to fit everything back to the box because of multiple small holders. This time I wanted to combine as much holders as I can to improve teardown but of course - not at the cost of functionality or setup,

• 25 models resulting in 29 parts in old design vs 12 models resulting in 12 parts. That's more than 2x less things to print and organize in the box,

• new required build plate is 216x159 (209x159 if you rotate Tiles_Sites_Guardian_Holder),

• with my version there was a major problem - it didn't support thicker cardboard, I made sure that it will support (comparing to 1st version):
• fear/multiplier - will hold 1 more, more can be stored in the same holder with coins / compasses,

• rival tiles - will hold 1 more,

• leader, blocking tokens - they're loose in one of the holders, so plenty of space,

• guardian and site 1, 2 tiles - will hold around 2-3 more tiles of each,

• research, idol tokens - space for around 2-3 more of each,

• blocking tokens - they're loose in one of the holders, so plenty of space,

• temple tiles - around half of token more space,

• assistants - unfortunately I didn't have space to enlarge it, it's the same size as the one from the 1st version. Tokens that not fit can be stored however in Leaders_Other_Cards_Holder.

• around 520g on my current settings needed for 1st version vs 430g for 2nd version. 90g lighter! Maybe that's not massive reduction, but significant,

• no lid lift - it can be present if you have thicker cardboard (map, leader boards), but if you have the same cardboard thickness as I - no lid lift! Better to store it between other boardgames vertically, because it can open a little (5-10mm),

• updated description and images,

I was not 100% happy with the first design because of terrible box organization - it was very hard to fit everything back to the box. This was 100% eliminated in the 2nd version and teardown is now a breeze.

Important Notes:

• Clearence for holder covers is very small - 0.2mm horizontal. Please print the smallest holder and cover for it to check if it fits, if not you may need to calibrate printer or enlarge cover a bit (adding 0.2-0.4mm to the width in the slicer should be enough),

• card holders - they're very tight, so in order to put all cards you may need to squeeze them in, just put most of the cards in and when you have trouble adding more - one side of the holder (front one) is shorter, so you can put cards on top of the cards that are in the holder, squeeze them a little and then you will be able to fit all cards.

• it doesn't support promo cards although you can just scale it a little (probably like 0.5-0.8mm for each card), but beware that there could be a lid lift then.

Supports:

• vertical storage - preferably between other board games because it can open a little (like 5-10mm),

• Expedition Leaders expansion,

• The Missing Expedition expansion,

• custom moon staffs, research tokens,

• should support meeple stickers and possibly custom meeples / minis,

• custom coins, compasses,

• sleeves - this is mainly design for 70 microns sleeves (I use Sloyca). Card holders are pretty tight, so you won't be able to squezze thicker sleeves.

This insert features:

• temple tiles holder - adjust tiles count according to player count and put on the whole holder on the board,

• site, guardian tiles and assitants holder - take them out and put it on the table,

• one giant holder for coins, compasses, resources - take it out and put on the board,

• fear, items, artifacts cards holders - take it out and put them on the board,

• 2 setup holders - Idols_Research_Rival_Holder which holds also custom moon staffs and leader round tokens and Leaders_Other_Cards_Holder which holds all leader tokens + all other cards.

Requirements:

• about 430g filament needed, (depends on your settings, I printed with 15% gyroid infill, 2 walls, 5 top and 3 bottom layers),

• at least 216mm x 159mm print bed for core (209mm if you rotate Tiles_Sites_Guardian_Holder).

Instructions:

Supports - no supports required.

• every file ended with xX (for example x16) - print X times (in given example - 16 times),

• refer to pictures how to organize the box.

What future holds:

• This insert is done, I'm very happy with it and I am not planning to update it, but who knows ;)

Enjoy!
