Star Trek: The Dice Game multi-color dice

These are multi-color dice (MMU required) for the the print-and-play board game “Star Trek: The Dice Game”. Details can be found at https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/191387/star-trek-the-dice-game

Print at 100%, no supports or brim, external perimeters first, and random seam position.

When prompted to load the model, say yes to "load as a single object having multiple parts?" Load up your MMU with black, yellow, red, and blue. Assign the four extruders to the different bodies as show in the screenshot. Note that the "_die" body must be listed on top, otherwise PrusaSlicer will not render the faces correctly. The underscore in "_die" is to ensure that happens automatically when the .3mf is loaded.

Bed adhesion is critical! I used a smooth sheet with Layerneer bed adhesive. A textured sheet is not a good choice for dice. The slightest warping will cause the print to fail, and because the dice are small, they will be knocked off if not glued to the bed. This model will stress your MMU.

Because the colored icons are so finely detailed, they can be overwhelmed by the black of the die. You want your red, blue, and yellow to be light and bright, and you want your black to be muted (e.g. not galaxy black). For me, the yellow symbols were the most washed out, so I mitigated against this by adding an embedded yellow block behind the symbols. This seems to work.

Even though there are four colors, the model was designed so that at most 3 are used for any given layer. Even with ironing, the top layer cannot print detail well, and so the blue Medical ➕ symbol should be on top, as it is the simplest.

The game calls for 10 dice, but I suggest printing at least 12 and choosing the best 10. The purge block is the same no matter how many you print, but because of the frequent color swaps, printing 12 dice takes 6 hours.

This model is licensed as "Attribution—Noncommercial—No Derivatives" only because I did not design the symbols on the faces. The scanners symbol I drew myself, but the other 5 are taken directly from the print-and-play PDF (extracted as SVGs via Inkscape, although I did thicken the circle in the Command icon just for printing) posted on BGG. However, I personally don't care if you actually make these and sell them on Etsy.
