Modular Citadel Paint Rack

A friend wanted a rack for their standard sized Citadel paint bottles so I made one. It consists of four files that are very easy to print and assemble. Make three prints of the 6-Rack and two prints of the 5-Rack model. Also print one of each side piece. The racks dovetail together as seen in the photos. The rack assembly slides into the two side pieces to make a strong and stable structure. The bottles can be inserted either top up or bottom up. This may fit other brand bottles but it is designed for Citadel 12ml bottles which are approximately 33mm in diameter and 45mm tall.

PRINTING: No supports are necessary if you print in the default orientations. If you typically have warping issues on larger flat surfaces use a brim on the side pieces. I designed the joints with tolerances adjusted for 0.2mm layer height and a 0.4mm nozzle on my printers. The dovetails should slide together easily but have enough friction that the rack will not easily fall apart. If you add a little glue to the dovetails the rack will be super strong.
OPTIONS: The rack holds 28 bottles and can be positioned vertically or horizontally as shown in the photos. The rest of this becomes obvious as you put the rack together but I will say it anyway.

Two 6-rack pieces are required to hold the side pieces securely so the minimum configuration would use just two 6-Rack and one 5-Rack to store 17 bottles.

It is certainly possible to add more of the rack pieces for a configuration that will hold more bottles. Adding racks to the top will have the top one(s) protruding beyond the back of the side pieces. You could position the racks closer to the front of the dovetails in the side pieces to overcome that to an extent.

I like assembling it the way I have shown here because it seems to be very stable.
