This is an insert for the phenomenal game, Guards of Atlantis II. It's not the most compact design, but that's not really what I'm going for here. This insert aims to do one thing: get the game out from the boxes and onto the table as quickly as possible.

Highlights

• The hero tray's card slot has enough room to hold sleeved cards. Even double sleeved. My personal copy has KMC Perfect Fit sleeves inside Dragon Shield matte clear shields.

• I've included designs for several variants to account for various hero components. More on that below.

• Hero and minion figures slide down from the top, held in place snugly with a bit of gravity on just the base of the figure.

• Using the recommended print settings listed below, on a Bambu Labs A1, this tray uses around 30g of filament.

• Hero names and star ratings are easily readable, as long as you choose to store each hero in its respective hero tray.

• Minion trays double as coin trays. Just store them on bottom and hand a tray to each team.

Each hero tray stores the components for a single hero, and can be horizontally stacked, or “nested”. This allows for storing 8 trays in an interlocked row. 12 total in the core box, 8 in the official expansion boxes. You should be able to store all components within the core box plus three expansion boxes. I recommend having a box each for 2/3/4 stars!

Print instructions

Below is a list of all the included models, with a description for how each is intended to be used.

• Minion tray - Hold 1 team's minions. Also has slots on either side for storing 8 life counter tokens for that team. Half of the coin tokens can be stored in the base of the tray. Print 2. Preferably 1 orange, 1 blue :)

• Token tray (corner) - Just a simple container for tokens included in the base game. Print 2.

• Hero tray (standard) - This is the standard tray for any hero whose components are just a figure and a deck of cards.

• Hero tray (tokens) - Same as the standard tray, but with a slot for tokens.

• Hero tray (2 figs) - Same as the standard tray, but with two slots for figures.

• Hero tray (2 figs and tokens) - For Trinkets.

• Hero tray (4 figs) - For Razzle.

• Hero tray (standard, multi) - Same as the standard tray, but extended to hold 4 heroes. Convenient, sturdy and filament efficient. The front slot includes token storage for the front hero.

• Hero tray (wizard) - Hero tray especially made for Gydion and his fancy extra deck and his extra tall figure.

Recommended printer settings

Below are printer settings I recommend, for hero trays, to keep filament usage low while still providing plenty of strength.

• .2mm layer height (though most heights should be fine)

• 2 wall loops

• 3 top shell layers

• 0mm top shell thickness

• 3 bottom shell layers

• 0mm bottom shell thickness

• 15% sparse infill density

• Lightning sparse infill pattern (it's strong enough, don't worry)

For the minion trays, same thing, maybe change the infill to be gyroid or cubic.

Other recommendations

• If you have a full row of hero trays and would like to take one out that is not the one in front, first take out the one in front. This allows for sliding the trays ahead of the one that you want, providing enough clearance to remove it securely.

• The insert was only designed to support having the box oriented with the bottom facing down. The figure slots use gravity to hold the figures in place, so storing the box in another orientation might lead to pieces falling out of place during transport. If you plan to store your boxes on their side, I do not recommend using this insert.

Action shots

Hero tokens slide in.

Hero tokens slide out.

Health tokens are stored on the ends of the minion trays.

Figures slide right in and are held in place by gravity and a bit of friction.

Updates

• 2025.05.18 - Updated token hero tray to hold up to 6 tokens, for Min. Updated multi-hero tray to have token slots in front.

• 2025.05.31 - Added Gydion's tray
