About the Game

1866 Railways of Europe is a game in the 18xx family originally started by Francis Tresham. It has several unusual elements:

There are no stock rounds. Instead players buy stock turn tokens that activate interleaved with company operations on the stock market. The map is divided by national boundaries. National companies can only operate within their borders. Minor National companies (regions in Germany and Italy) merge in mid game to form their respective national companies, reflecting events of the 7 weeks war in 1866. Public companies are given operating rights across the map by directors ownership of National companies.
