57th Panzer Korps: Russia, December 1942 2006

One of the keys to the decision to re-issue 48th Panzer Korps: Battles on the River Chir - Battles on The River Chir, is that Designer James Zoldak has gone forward with the companion wargame, 57th PANZER KORPS The Strong Right Hook, that deals with the struggles at Kotelnikovo and between the Rivers Aksay and Mishkova. The German thrust had to breach the Soviet blocking position at Vasilevka before Operation Donnerschlag ("Thunder Clap" -- the planned breakout by the forces in the Stalingrad pocket) could begin.

57th PANZER KORPS The Strong Right Hook presents key military challenges to both sides: The Germans know where they must go... and the Soviets know it too; The Soviets must seek to stop the relieving advance in a contest of mobile forces where the Germans have the edge in skill, but not in numbers.
