About the Game

In An Unexpected Party, you and your fellow hosts (players) are scrambling to keep a lively halfling gathering from spiraling completely out of control. Guests keep arriving, food is disappearing faster than you can serve it, the music won’t quiet down, and the mess is… well, it's getting worse.

Working together in real time, you’ll play cards as fast as you can, trying to match what’s already on the table, stabilize the chaos, and keep the whole evening from collapsing before cake is served.

Gameplay is based around laying and matching tiles to the Party Grounds - most tiles result in the lowering or raising of the Tracker, which shows the current Hunger, Mess, and Noise levels. Reaching the fifth space on these components automatically ends the game in a loss.

If you lay the last Party Grounds tile before one of the Tracker components reaches it's fifth space, you win!
