About the Game

In the 5th century B.C., in the aftermath of the Median Wars, the city of Athens was booming. The city teemed with merchants, artists and philosophers. Nevertheless, this growing success inflamed the anger and jealousy of its eternal rival, Sparta. Can you guide radiant Athens to its zenith and resist Sparta’s efforts to surpass it?

Athens Alone is a single-player game that takes 20 to 40 minutes to play. You have 15 turns to place your 3 dice on cards to activate their effects: earn gold, ideas, citizens, and, most importantly, acquire new cards from the Agora that will allow you to gain increasingly powerful effects. Use period bonuses and your deity to surpass Sparta’s score, which will score as many victory points each turn as half the result of your dice roll.
