BALL is a deterministic American football board game for two players. Each player controls a team of seven pieces on a square grid, with the goal of advancing the ball into the opponent's end zone to score a touchdown.
Players spend Action Points (PA) to move pieces and perform actions such as blocking, protecting, dodging, passing and handing off the ball. Position, movement patterns, occupied spaces and possession determine which actions are legal and what results they produce. Unused Action Points can be converted into Energy (PE), which can be spent on known one-use tactical cards.
BALL uses no dice and no random card draws. The tactical cards available to each player are known from the start, so uncertainty comes from the opposing player's choices and the changing board position rather than from random resolution.
