About the Game
Banjo-Dungeon is an indie board game from Japan designed for two players. You control a knight venturing into an arena with the goal of snatching your opponent's treasure.
The game begins with an empty board. Each turn, players place two tiles on the field. There are two types of tiles: Wall Tiles to construct walls and pathways, and Magic Circle Tiles to summon dragons or golems to aid you in battle. Players have a limited supply of mana, represented by candles along the edge of the board. If you use 3 mana, the candle moves 3 spaces. When you run out of mana, you can't use it. Mana is used for character skills, summoning minions onto the field, and casting summon spells for your monsters.
Movement and combat are similar to games like Final Fantasy Tactics, with units having movement ranges, attack ranges, passive skills, and active skills that require mana to use. The game concludes when you reach your opponent's treasure chest, at which point you win!
