About the Game

Big Apple is a fishing card game in the style of Scopa or Golden Pig, except designed for playing with a very young child. The deck is composed of 33 cards which each have one, two, or three large symbols on them. Players take turns playing these cards, and collecting all face-up cards that match at least one symbol. The only things a child needs to be able to do to play Big Apple is:

Choose a card from a hand of 3 Identify any matching symbols between their card and those that are face-up on the table.

There is some additional scope for clever play by older children or adults.

There are nine different symbols on the cards: Apple, Banana, Cake, Dog, Elephant, Fish, Gemstone, Hat, and Ice Cube. Each of these symbols appear 6 times total in the deck, twice on single symbol cards, one on double symbol cards, and twice on triple single cards. There is one single symbol card which features a very large apple.
