Böast is a party card game for 3-6 players built around the Old Norse and Celtic traditions of competitive boasting at feast halls.
Each round, players secretly combine three cards -- a Deed, a Witness, and a Reaction -- to construct the most outrageous boast they can. The rotating judge (the Skald) reads each combination aloud and awards the point to the best one. First player to 7 points wins the title of Greatest Skald of the Age.
The game draws on real historical traditions: the Norse heitstrenging and sumbel (ritual oath and boasting ceremonies), and the Celtic curadmír -- the champion's portion, claimed through competitive boasting at feast halls. Flyting, the formal competitive insult tradition of the medieval Norse and Anglo-Saxon world, provides the adversarial spirit.
