About the Game

A solitaire (Player Confederate or Player Union) and 2-Player (Confederate v. Union) game covering the opening engagement of the Second Battle of Manassas.

It is late in the afternoon, and Jackson has surprised a Union column marching along the Warrenton Turnpike. Two of the most famous Brigades to fight in the Civil War are about to meet. The Stonewall Brigade enters the battlefield and marches into the musket fire of what will become known as the Iron Brigade. Reinforcements are rushed to the firing line. Neither side is prepared to give an inch.

Brawner's Farm utilizes the Advanced Battle Rules found in Field Commander Robert E. Lee (DVG). The Player(S) control historical Regiments, utilizing Basic and Advanced Battle Plans to overcome the Enemy. Formation - Column or Line - is important, with each Formation offering advantages while imposing disadvantages. Unlike the historical battle (which became a stand off in the fading light), the game assumes Jackson is more aggressive in the pursuit of victory. To achieve victory, the Confederate Forces (Player or Enemy controlled) must reach Warrenton Turnpike, cutting the Union forces off from one another after which the game assumes Rebel reinforcements will inflict devastating losses.
