About the Game

Brilliant Misfits is a push-your-luck game with a instant win condition.

You are eccentric inventors joining forces in a series of wildly ambitious startup ventures. Every player has a stake in every venture. Cash out before a venture collapses and you'll walk away with a tidy profit — a wise choice, prudent inventor. But risk it all to change the world, and you might be remembered as the Brilliant Misfit you were born to be!

Gameplay Overview Brilliant Misfits is played over multiple rounds. Each round represents a new venture the players have started together.

Market Risk cards will be flipped one at a time to determine the value of the venture. These cards stay faceup on the table until all of the players have sold out, or the startup venture has gone bankrupt.

Most Market Risk cards are black. They increase the value of the company as well as the risk of going bankrupt. Some Market Risk cards are red. Each red card flipped increases the value of the company by a greater amount than the previous one.

Players who Sell Out get points equal to the current value of the company, and draw 1 Business Connection card for each red card on the table.

When a venture goes bankrupt, any player may spend a Business Connections card to stay in the propped up venture. Everyone who does not use a Business Connection gets nothing for that venture and is out until the next round.

The last remaining player in any venture has a choice:

Strike it rich as the sole owner - flip 3 cards: get the value of the company plus 5 points if you don't bust. Change the world - flip 6 cards: get an instant win if you don't bust.

The first player to get 35 points wins (if some brilliant misfit doesn't change the world beforehand).
