About the Game

Condensation Game transforms a standard science saturated water vapor graph into an engaging, fast-paced board game. Designed to teach how changes in temperature and water vapor lead to condensation, this game feels like a modern abstract strategy game with a thrilling dose of player interaction.

At the beginning of the game, each player starts with exactly 1 Water Drop token, and all player pawns are placed safely below the condensation curve on the graph.

On Your Turn: During your turn, you play action cards. The number of cards you can play is directly equal to the number of Water Drop tokens you currently hold. By playing thematic cards like "Step into the fridge," you alter the temperature or water vapor of the shared environment. These card actions allow you to push opponents' pawns closer to the condensation line, move your own pawn back to a safer position, or trigger various unpredictable events on the board.

Condensation and Comebacks: If a pawn is pushed onto or across the saturation curve, condensation occurs! That player immediately receives an additional Water Drop token, and their pawn is reset to the starting point. This creates the game's dynamic comeback mechanic: the more disadvantageous your position becomes (having more tokens), the more cards you can play on your turn. This prevents players from losing hope and turns early setbacks into massive counterattacks.

Game End and Winning: Because there is only one ultimate winner, alliances between players shift constantly throughout the game. The game ends instantly the moment any player receives their 4th Water Drop token. At that exact moment, the single player with the fewest Water Drop tokens is declared the winner!

Educational Impact and Accessibility: Taking less than 5 minutes to teach and under 30 minutes to play, the game is highly accessible. Because great effort was put into seamlessly integrating actual scientific principles directly into the core mechanics, Condensation Game is already being actively used in science education. It is a highly interactive game that effortlessly teaches these core concepts through repeated play, strategic balance, and unpredictable fun. —description from the designer
