About the Game
Hope or Despair - Aim to escape from the academy by choosing fate!
A simple reasoning game based on the very popular game Love Letter, which has received many board game awards. Co-designed with Danganronpa game designer Kanaye-Ishii, enjoy the combination of Love Letter and Danganronpa!
Each of the 20 characters taken from the Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc videogame has a Hope and a Despair ability, and is associated with one of those two fates. The Hope abilities are identical to the original love letter, allowing you to play with classic love letter rules.
Playing the Monokuma mode - named after the key villain from the video game - players first set up an active fate for the game by randomly choosing between Fate and Despair. Characters played trigger their abilities based on the active fate. However, once per game when a player discards a card with an opposing fate to the active one, they then use that new fate for the rest of the game.
Use the combination of Hope and Despair abilities to aim for victory and outlast your opponents!
