About the Game
Darkness of Dracula is a standalone gothic horror hidden movement board game for 2–6 players, inspired by Bram Stoker's classic novel Dracula.
Set across Great Britain and Ireland, the game pits two asymmetric factions against each other: the Forces of Darkness, led by Count Dracula, and the Hunters, led by Professor Abraham Van Helsing.
Powered by the Detectives vs Criminals System, originally developed for Detectives Vs Criminals, Darkness of Dracula is part of the same family of team-based hidden movement games. It builds upon the original system with new mechanics, characters, and objectives designed to recreate the atmosphere and conflicts of Bram Stoker's novel. It is a fully standalone game and does not require Detectives Vs Criminals to play.
Unlike traditional one-versus-many hidden movement games, both factions can be played in teams. Up to two players can control Dracula and his allies, while up to four players take on the roles of the Hunters.
Players can portray iconic characters from the novel, including Dracula, Lucy Westenra, Renfield, Van Helsing, Jonathan Harker, Mina Murray, Dr. John Seward, Arthur Holmwood, and Quincey Morris. Each character has unique abilities that influence gameplay and team strategy.
The Forces of Darkness move secretly across the map, establishing hidden Lairs, commanding Servants and Brigands, and spreading Darkness while attempting to evade the Hunters.
The Hunters must investigate Dracula's movements, follow clues, and collect sacred Relics to prepare for confrontations with the vampires. Cooperation, deduction, and careful planning are essential to their success.
Combining hidden movement, asymmetric objectives, character abilities, resource management, and tactical combat, Darkness of Dracula brings the DvC System into a new gothic horror setting, offering a distinct team-based interpretation of Bram Stoker's legendary vampire hunt.
Characters from Darkness of Dracula can be played in Detectives Vs Criminals, and vice versa.
Additionally, both games can use each other's maps. For example, Darkness of Dracula can be played on the European map from Detectives Vs Criminals, while Detectives Vs Criminals can be played on the Great Britain and Ireland map from Darkness of Dracula.
