About the Game
Federa is a drawless annihilation game for two players: Black and White. It is played on the intersections (points) of an odd-sized, initially empty square grid (board). Players have access to a sufficient supply of pieces in two shapes (disks and tiles) and two colors (black and white).
DefinitionsA group is a piece along with all identical pieces one can reach from it through a series of steps onto orthogonally adjacent, identical pieces.
A group is bounded if there are no empty points orthogonally adjacent to it.
A piece covets an orthogonally adjacent group if it likes the color and shape of the pieces in the group. Black pieces like pieces of the other shape, black and white alike; white pieces like black pieces of their own shape and white pieces of the other shape.
PlayOn your turn, place a disk or tile of your color on an empty point or convert a bounded group to the color and shape of the majority of pieces coveting it, provided that those coveting pieces are of your color. If there is a tie, only the owner of the group can convert it.
Passing is not allowed, but, if you have no legal moves available, your turn is skipped.
You win if the board is full of pieces of your color.
To make the game fair, White will have the option, on their first turn only, to swap sides with Black instead of making a regular move.
