About the Game

Flonzi is a two-player cooperative board game where you and your partner, Franzi and Flo, try to bring your life paths together and ideally, fall in love. The game is played in two phases: a "strangers" phase and a "getting to know each other" phase. You start the game not knowing anything about each other and are separated by a privacy screen. As you take actions in your lives and build your personal life paths, you try to bridge the gap between you.

Gameplay

At the beginning of the game, you set your starting stats (Stimmung, Beruf, Sozial, Musik, Sport, Kultur) by rolling six dice, one for each stat. The game is played simultaneously, with both players taking turns independently.

During the "strangers" phase, you cannot talk to each other. On your turn, you can either draw three action cards and one life path tile, or one action card and three life path tiles. You then play one card and one tile, discarding the rest. The tiles are used to build your personal life path on your game board, while the cards represent life events and actions that affect your stats.

The game transitions to the "getting to know each other" phase once both players have moved into the "Bekanntenkreis" area on their game board. At this point, you can remove the privacy screen and freely discuss your moves and strategies. In this new phase, you gain the ability to play a card together from your previously played cards. Playing a card this way allows you to share its effects and decide which player receives the stat changes for each trait.

As you lay down life path tiles, you must check for event symbols. If a tile has an event symbol, you draw a corresponding event card. Events can be either private, affecting only you, or global, affecting both players.

Winning the Game

The game can end in several ways:

You don't get together: If you run out of action cards or life path tiles, the game ends, and you have failed to find each other.

A "dead end": If one player's life path becomes a dead end, they lose the game.

The perfect match: If you successfully connect both life paths on the game board, the game ends immediately. At this point, you compare your stats. To win, both players must have a "Stimmung" (mood) stat of at least 3, and all other stats can only differ by a maximum of one point. For every matching stat, another stat is allowed to differ by one additional point. Additionally, neither player can be in a relationship with another person. If all conditions are met, you both win and live happily ever after.

Flonzi offers a unique and thematic experience where building a connection with another player is the ultimate goal. The game's two-phase structure, stat-based character development, and unique win conditions create an engaging journey of discovery and cooperation.
