About the Game
Welcome to Fury of the Northman which is a game of Viking warfare using the Men of Bronze engine from the Osprey Wargaming Series 24 (OWG 24) written by Eric Farrington. This is a stand-alone game that uses the same ideas and mechanics, but ported and modified to the Viking Age!
These rules are scale and model agnostic and do not have any specific basing requirements. The rules are designed for unit-vs-unit combat. Combat is resolved via opposed dice pools of D6 and the use of Ferocity Points to trigger special rules, initiative, formation changes, etc. There is no figure removal and can accommodate games of 4 units up to 10 units or more per side.
To capture the feeling of Viking Age combat and the many cultures of the historical period, unit types have been abstracted and special rules applied to capture the unique fighting styles of the time. The Lines-of-Battle in this book are all new and unique to the period and cover Viking raids, to Norse kingdoms, European Kingdoms, Iberia, and Muslim forces.
I hope you enjoy your battles in the Viking Age using these rules.
