About the Game

Game is based on the comic strip (also a radio series) The Nebbs by Sol Hess. Deck has 45 cards: 36 suit cards and 9 score cards. Suit cards come in 4 suits named for characters from the comic strip: Nebbs, Potts, Slider, and Max. Each has 9 cards numbered 1-9. Score cards are: Win 1/2/3/5, Lose 1/2/3/5, and one labeled "? - Value of card below". Place the score cards in a face-down stack. Deal each P 9 cards. (for 2-3 players, set the excess cards aside). Play is standard trick-taking. Nebbs are always trump. The winner of the first trick takes the top score card and puts it in front of them. The score cards are then turned face up. The winner of each subsequent trick takes the top score card. After all 9 tricks have been played, each player scores 1 point for each trick taken plus the value of the score cards they took (win cards are positive points, Lose cards are negative points. The value of the "value of card below" score card is equal to the value of the score card below it (this should be recorded when the next score card is revealed. If it is the last score card in the stack, it scores nothing. Player with the most points after 9 hands wins.
