西游斗妖行 (Journey to the West) 2023

Journey to the West is a cooperative adventure game designed for 2-4 players. Players can choose to embody any of the four characters from Tang Monk's entourage, collectively immersing themselves in the rich mythological narrative of the Westward journey. Utilize strategic thinking, teamwork, and individual abilities to defeat a multitude of supernatural foes and overcome the predetermined trials along the perilous pilgrimage.

Gameplay

1. Explore

Draw a terrain card and place it on the game board, then resolve the event depicted on the card. This represents the various encounters and challenges faced while exploring the path ahead.

2. Player Actions

Players can choose from six different actions, each potentially consuming action points:

Meditate: Spend one action point to randomly draw a Five Elements magic. Acquire Skill Cards: Spend one action point and 1-6 magic to obtain powerful skill cards. Move: Spend one action point and 1-6 magic to move to an adjacent location displaying a terrain with the same magic cost. Attack: Spend one action point to roll combat dice and attack a local demon. Activate Skill: Execute the effect of a skill card, discarding it afterward. Special Chapter Action: Each chapter features a unique action.

3. Player Action Resolution

Resolve the chosen actions of all players.

4. Demon Actions

The next player takes on the role of controlling all demons, initiating attacks on the players according to specific rules.

5. Demon Resolution

Resolve demon attacks or skill effects based on dice results.
