About the Game

KUROFUDA is a compact card game of anomaly investigation, risk management, and survival.

Players are investigators entering a sealed manor where multiple Investigation Sites contain unstable anomalies. On your turn, you must record evidence by playing cards to one of the sites. Each card has an Affinity and an Anomaly Depth. You cannot play a card with the same Affinity as the most recent card at that site, and the total Depth of a site may never exceed 10.

If a site reaches exactly 10 Depth, a Ten-Seal is achieved: the records at that site vanish back into the Evidence Archive, and the site returns to silence. But if you cannot legally record any card, you must perform Cursed Absorption, taking all cards from one site as visible Curse Marks. The site is then sealed and removed from play.

The investigation ends when all sites are sealed, the evidence is exhausted, or a player achieves a Perfect Seal by starting their turn with no cards in hand. In most games, the investigator with the fewest Curse Marks escapes the manor and wins.

KUROFUDA uses only 31 cards, but creates tense decisions through hand management, push-your-luck timing, and careful control of shared card rows.
